12 Days of Fun (and sometimes festive) Farm Facts: Day 6

Day 6:

What exactly is a Meyer Lemon?

Everyone raves about them...but what's so special about the Meyer Lemon?  Well, It's a cross between a Mandarin Orange and Lemon which gives it a sweeter more distinct taste.

While things are quite up here in the Northeast...citrus season is in full swing.  Tis' the season to support our southern/western friends by buying up all of the "grown in the USA" oranges and lemons you can get your hands on.

A fun source for Meyer lemons is through Lemon Ladies Orchard.  Treat yourself to a box of lovingly grown lemons...and just think of all of the fun things you can make: marmalade, lemon bars, lemon bread, Lemon Ricotta Almond Cake, etc. etc.
