Winter Farmer Learning

I told one of my winter part time jobs that I would be out of town for a few days for several Fruit and Vegetable Growers conferences.  Their response...."I had no idea there was such a thing."  Of coarse there is!  I feel pretty confident that you can find a conference on just about anything you have an interest in.

Here are some photos of my adventures.  Most of these are from the Mid Atlantic Fruit and Vegetable Growers meeting in Hershey, PA.

NJ Northeastern Organic Farming Conference in Lincroft, NJ
I spent a lot of time taste testing for the Cider Contest

This class name made me laugh! "SDW" is a bug that is a big issue for small fruit growers.  Bugs are part of life my friends!
Adams Co. Nursery table - This is where we are getting most of our Apples from.
A really stellar way to pick strawberries....laying down!
Pie Tasting
Mail Order Honey Bees
Berry Boxes, Bushels, and Pecks
Unlimited free Cider and Apples

Farm produces a wide range of Tart Cherry products.  Their Tart Cherry Juice is my favorite!

  1. I actually just back sweetened , well, sort of, a batch of hard cider with tart cherry juice. It's really nice and adds a hint of acidity.
