As with every new year I (like I'm sure most of you) like to take a little time to tie a bow on the past year give it one last thought and then look with excitement, anticipation, and wisdom (hopefully) to the new year.
Our customers are always at the very top of my mind and especially when
I think about the next farming season.
When I think about what I want the 2017 to be I think I want it to be the season of cooking and giving you more ideas of what to do with what I grow. I think cooking is a gift that we give to our family...especially the every watchful little ones, and friends.
As busy as my parents were running the big farm we always had family dinner each night and a "pic-nic" at my grandma's house on the farm every Sunday during the summer with out fail. These are treasured memories and something I wish for everyone (while I realize this is not always possible).
To start this off I made a pot of Julia Child's Boeuf Bourguignon which was indeed incredible but took me almost the entire day to make. I mean folks how could it not be incredible everything was cooked in bacon grease or butter. The recipe called for a carrot (I added 2 for good measure) which also fueled my desire to be a better carrot grower! It's one of my many 2017 goals.

Currently I am in the process of planning our planting schedule and seed order and I can't help but smile.
I'm so excited to bring you old favorites like our peaches, husk cherries, red butterhead lettuce....and of coarse some new treats. There are few things in the works and if you're a Market CSA Member or on our email list you'll be the first to know. And maybe there's something you'd like me to try to grow...I'm all hears my friends. Email/text/or call anytime.
So here's to growing and cooking with you in 2017.
