12 Days of Fun (and sometimes festive) Farm Facts: Day 1

Day 1:

Christmas is tomorrow and I just can't believe how fast this year flew by.  It's already time to start working for the 2014 season....which leads me to the fact for today:

Most Americans are at least 3 generations removed from the farm.  So that means there's a pretty good chance that none of your living relatives were farmers.  But your Great Grandparents may have farmed...or maybe it was further back than that...but somewhere way back when your ancestors were farmers...which means somewhere deep down inside you have a green thumb just waiting for a chance to prove itself!
I have a lot of customers who are home gardeners and I get quite a few questions about varieties, best practices, planting times, etc.  So for all of you who wish to channel your farming ancestors in the next two weeks I will be doing 4 posts to help get you started (or just give you some fresh ideas because some of you are quite accomplished home gardeners!)...and please feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Here's the themes of these gardening posts:
1. Seed Selection and Sources
2. Tomatoes (since most of you grow tomatoes)
3. Planting schedule
4. Garden health
