How Potatoes Get Ready for Planting

Two weeks ago we planted all of our organic and conventional seed potatoes. In order to speed things along and to save me the lengthy task of hand cutting, we borrowed our neighbor's potato cutter.

Seed potatoes get cut into smaller pieces and planted in a furrow. These pieces grow into the potato plant. And around July we'll start pulling up the plants to find a cluster of "new potatoes."

For your viewing delight a took a video of the purple seed potatoes being cut.
